What Makes The HPI Baja 5B Buggy So Popular?

It could be the big size, it could be the big gasoline engine, it could be because it’s by HPI, however it seems it’s popular because of the big fun you can have with the HPI Baja 5B Buggy. A couple of years ago HPI released the ready to run Baja 5B and it seems it became wildly popular with bashers because of the terrain it can conquer due to it’s size. At first there wasn’t a lot of aftermarket parts for them and getting stock parts could take a week or so because most hobby shops had not expected this RC car to be so popular and they were caught short. Recently HPI released the Baja 5B in kit form and called it the SS. This RC car includes a bigger fuelie engine of 26 cc instead of the smaller 23 cc gasoline engine. With improved shocks and the color orange this kit is even more popular with more traditional hobbyists across the globe because they like to build the kit. HPI included a better exhaust system which perked up the newer 26 cc motor which helped the little engine make more power.

Aftermarket Driven The Performance Has Been Raised.

Once the popularity of this giant 5th scale RC car exploded the aftermarket manufacturers jumped on board and started making a whole slew of components to increase the performance and the bling factor. With Carbon Fiber and Billet Aluminum parts you could easily create your own unique Baja 5B. If you want to go faster there is a large selection of engines, tuned pipes, velocity stacks, shocks and shock struts and even new tires now available. Pro Line has jumped in with the Badland tires and a new desert rat body for your Baja 5B. While tire selection was minimal in the beginning, now there is more selection thanks to companies like Hostile Hobby which offers HPI Baja 5B drivers two types of tires for your Baja. The MX and the new Mini MX tires both perform very well in both bashing and full off road racing environments.
