April Has Been The Baja 5B Madness Month.

GBE New Fadal 4020 For Large Scale RC Product Line

Here at Gabe Brown Engineering it has been total madness regarding the HPI Baja 5B RC car. The GBE team attended the RCX show in Pomona California. We had all been looking forward to it for weeks because all the manufacturer’s had their latest products and innovations on display for everyone to try. Not only that, but the show featured an indoor off-road track where the top drivers took turns at the controls, twisting and hucking their cars all over the tight dirt track. The 8th scale buggies and truggies were a blast to watch, as they ran lap after lap due to the sound indoors is very different than of an outdoor track. The show also featured an outdoor on-road track which was big enough for 8th scale cars. We witnessed a pair of FG F-1 5th scale cars dice around the corners of the same track. That was excellent, those cars really dove into the corners hard.

GBE Meets Friends From Across The World.

The world really is a small place because today you can simply jump on a plane and be anywhere within hours. The GBE team had the opportunity to meet several people, such as the owner of Large Scale RC, Troy who hails from Indiana, Tom from Phatdad-RC hails from San Diego. We also had a chance to chat with the very busy John Schultz from HPI Racing and the rest of their team who really work hard for the people in the hobby. Their booth was outstanding, featuring all the latest and best components for their line of RC cars and trucks. The GBE team currently maintains six of the HPI Baja 5B RC cars which we use for research and development as well as racing in the new class of off-road racing. We are very grateful for their continued efforts to support the hobbyist as well as the manufacturers in this RC hobby. While navigating between the exhibit, we ran across Richard from the Sun Valley Speedway, Richard was running in the outdoor 8th scale on-road track. Remember that GBE will be hosting two races a month at Sun Valley Speedway so be sure to stop in and say hello to Richard while you’re there. Among the many booths, we came upon the VS-Modelsport booth was very nice and featured many of the latest RC models they offer. Austin was both manning the booth and driving their 5th scale RC cars on the indoor off-road track. We enjoyed meeting all our friends at the RCX show.

Indoor Off-Road Racing At RCX.

The exhibition of the larger scale RC cars was something to see and hear. The tone is different than the nitro engines and the larger scale lent to the realism of the action on the track. To see these big cars jumping where before the 8th scale cars where just running was something unique to the RC world. The cars react much like other Radio controlled cars and trucks only they are larger featuring 23 cc to 30.5 cc gasoline engines instead of electric motors or nitro engines. This class of RC car is growing every hour of every day with more and more people getting a Baja 5B or other large scale Rc car. From the beaches to the tracks or the country side, these big cars are here to stay.

Gabe Brown Engineering Gets New CNC Machine.

We are very committed to helping the hobby of Large Scale RC car racing grow. With the work load of the shop and the demand for the performance components for the HPI Baja 5B the decision was made to get another Fadal 4020 CNC machine into the shop to handle the RC line of products we offer. Within days the new addition Gabe had it making metal chips and cranking out billet servo arms for the GBE Pro Mount servo adapter. This adapter fits both the RTR and the SS Baja 5B RC cars and is designed around the JR8711 Digital servo. This servo replaces the stock larger sized steering servo and increases the cars handling 100%. The reaction time is much faster and with 405 ounces of torque it can handle any of the Baja steering needs. The GBE Pro Mount and many more performance components are coming out of this machine in the next few months we are sure you will enjoy.

Stay tuned.
